RSHM Mission in the Zambezi Region

The mission of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary has led the organization to "respond to the needs of those who are most in need of justice, especially women and children, enabling the powerless, the deprived, the marginalized, and the voiceless to work effectively for their own development and liberation". The RSHM runs social missions in 14 countries including four countries in Africa.

In 1998, the four RSHM international schools in Europe each adopted and became responsible for the four RSHM missions in Africa, working to promote our mission and to prepare our students to become leaders who are agents of transformation for justice and peace. Marymount Paris sponsors the RSHM mission in the Zambezi region, Zimbabwe and Zambia, where RSHM sisters have worked in Harare, Mutare, and Chinhoyi since 1963.

This vision of linking our schools to missions enables the sisters to continue their important work in the places where they are needed most. In return, our students are given the opportunity to look beyond their own world and context and develop a compassionate yet critical view of global issues.

At Marymount Paris, we are preparing leaders who are agents of transformation for justice and peace
